About Hashtag Coders

Hashtag Coders is a software company based at 9th Mile Post, Puttur West, Jaffna 40000, Northern Province, Sri Lanka. Co-founded in 2019, we build custom web, mobile, and cloud software for clients in Sri Lanka, Singapore, the UK, Germany, and France-with the same people who scope the work staying close to delivery.

Founder-led delivery

Co-founders stay close to scoping, architecture, QA, and client communication-not a hand-off to an anonymous bench.

Full product path

Web, mobile, cloud, DevOps, and security hardening under one team-so integrations and releases stay coherent.

Working with us from Singapore, the UK, Germany, or France

Practical answers for overseas buyers-timezone overlap, currency, ownership, references, and support-before you reach out. We also serve clients across Singapore, the UK, Germany, and France.

Have you worked with a company like mine?

We have shipped for e-commerce retailers, travel operators, news publishers, creative studios, and custom business systems in Sri Lanka and abroad. Live international examples include Brotmann Kriens (Switzerland, brotmann-kriens.com) and Group Transfer Disney (France, grouptransferdisney.com/en)-both with admin panels for day-to-day content control. Local work includes Spices Jaffna (e-commerce), Imagina Creations (studio site), and Ravanaa News (publishing). In discovery we map your industry, integrations, and compliance needs to similar work we have done; if the fit is weak, we say so early rather than force a pitch.

What hours overlap with my team?

Our office runs Mon–Fri 09:00–18:00 and Sat 09:00–14:00 Sri Lanka Standard Time (UTC+5:30, no daylight saving). Singapore (UTC+8): live calls typically land between about 11:30am and 3:30pm Singapore time during our weekday hours. UK, Germany, and France: morning overlap-roughly 5:30am–12:30pm Central European Time while we are open-suited to stand-ups and decision calls. Outside overlap we use async updates on Slack or email with a same-business-day response target on active projects.

What currency do you quote in?

Proposals are issued in LKR for Sri Lanka clients or USD for international engagements. Milestone invoices match the currency in your signed quote. If you need SGD or EUR for internal procurement, we can discuss equivalent quoting-payment terms and bank details are confirmed in the proposal before work starts.

Who will manage my project?

You get a named lead from day one-usually one of our team members. We do not hand you to an anonymous account manager after the sale. Weekly calls, sprint demos, and escalation paths go through that same person.

What happens if delivery is delayed?

Timelines are fixed in the written scope and proposal before build work. If we hit a blocker on our side, we flag it early with a revised plan-not silence until the deadline. Client-side delays (content, approvals, third-party API access) are tracked in the shared board and may shift dates without penalty to either party. Material scope additions go through a change request with new dates and cost before we build them. Specific remedies, if any, are only what your signed contract states.

Who owns the code?

You do. IP for work created under your project transfers to you on final payment-you receive repositories, designs, and agreed deliverables. We do not retain rights to your product codebase or hold it hostage for future work. NDAs and confidentiality are standard before sensitive discussions.

Can I speak to a reference?

Yes, when there is a sensible match. After an initial fit call we can arrange a short conversation with a client who has agreed to be contacted-often on a similar project type (admin-managed e-commerce, multilingual booking sites, CMS, or internal tools). Public portfolio links such as Brotmann Kriens and Group Transfer Disney are available anytime; private contact details are only shared with permission.

How do support and maintenance work?

New builds include an agreed warranty window for defects in delivered scope. After that, most clients choose a monthly retainer covering security patches, dependency updates, monitoring, and a small bucket of fix hours-with P1/P2 response times written in when uptime matters. Larger features are quoted as separate change orders, not buried in “free maintenance.” Handover docs and repo access are included so your team or another vendor can take over.

Delivery process

How we run most fixed-scope and iterative builds. For rigidly specified or regulated work, we agree a more structured path in discovery.

  1. Step 1

    Discovery

Goals, users, constraints, and a written scope with exclusions-so quotes stay comparable and surprises stay rare.

  2. Step 2

    Design

Wireframes, flows, and visual direction when the product needs them, reviewed with you before heavy build work.

  3. Step 3

    Development

Iterative delivery in roughly two-week sprints, with code review and continuous integration matched to project risk.

  4. Step 4

    Testing & QA

Functional, responsive, and cross-browser checks, plus security basics for customer-facing apps-led with clear acceptance criteria.

  5. Step 5

    Launch & handover

Production deploy, repository and credential handover, environment notes, and optional support so your team can operate the product.

Communication standards

How we keep stakeholders in Sri Lanka, Singapore, the UK, Germany, and France aligned throughout the engagement.

  • Weekly progress calls on Zoom or Google Meet-cadence adjusted for SLST overlap with Singapore and morning hours in the UK, Germany, and France
  • Day-to-day updates by email or Slack when decisions cannot wait for the weekly call
  • A shared board (Jira, Trello, or Notion) so scope, blockers, and done work stay visible
  • Sprint demos with working software-not slide-only status meetings
  • A named contact for the engagement so questions reach one accountable person
  • English and Tamil available for client communication from our Jaffna office

Security, source-code ownership & handover

Commercial and technical practices we apply on client work-from first conversation through launch.

NDAs

We sign NDAs before sensitive discussions and include confidentiality in client contracts by default.

Source-code ownership

IP created for your project transfers to you on final payment-you own the code, designs, and deliverables. We do not retain rights to your product codebase.

Handover

Repositories, hosting and admin access as agreed, environment notes, and documentation so your team or a successor vendor can operate the system.

Security practices

HTTPS everywhere, secure password hashing, injection and XSS prevention, CSRF protections, and OWASP-aligned review for customer-facing apps. Penetration testing can be scoped for higher-risk products.

Privacy

Client and user data are handled under our Privacy Policy, with PDPA-oriented technical controls when your product processes personal data in Sri Lanka.
